** The student is expected to compare and contrast the use of art elements and principles, using vocabulary accurately.
**Produce drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, fiber art, photographic imagery, and electronic media-generated art, using a variety of art materials and tools in traditional and experimental ways.
Lesson Plan Name: Personalized Color Wheel
Expected Duration: 8-10 class periods
Elements & Principles of Art: Color, Line, Shape, Contrast Unity
Vocabulary Words: Color parts: hue, value & intensity, primary colors, secondary colors, complementary colors, pattern/motif, tertiary or intermediate colors, warm colors, cool colors, colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, neutral colors, tint, shade, tone.
Lesson Objective(s): (What is it we expect our students to learn?)
Identify and recite: primary colors, secondary colors, complementary colors and intermediate colors.
Mix colors to get intermediate colors.
Identify and differentiate between tinted and shaded colors.
Create a personalize shape and produce and enlarged color wheel design.
Instructional Strategies/Activities:
Students will observe other examples of completed personalized color wheel designs. Students will design their own motif shapes for their color wheels.
Students will transfer their designs on to a large final piece of paper.
Students will color each motif design as seen on a traditional color wheel.
Students will outline their motifs in black marker.
